Subsocial Collective is a new not for profit social enterprise founded in July 2026 by three directors with a shared belief that culture doesn't only happen in galleries, theatres and traditional arts spaces. Culture is created every day, in our homes, communities, streets, schools and social spaces, and we want to work with communities to build on the culture that already exists there.

Our approach is rooted in socially engaged practice. We develop creative projects with communities, not for them, starting with listening, participation and genuine collaboration. Rather than arriving with predetermined ideas about what a community needs, we want to meet people where they are, understand what matters to them, and create opportunities for people to shape the projects themselves.

We want to poke holes between the art world and your world. Creating spaces where art and everyday life can overlap, and where creative participation isn't limited by traditional ideas of who gets to make, experience or define culture.

Subsocial Collective works across communities, artists and organisations to develop projects that respond to real local needs and interests. Our work might take the form of workshops, exhibitions, events, public art, creative programmes or something entirely new. The format is secondary to the relationships, ideas and possibilities that emerge through working together.

At the heart of Subsocial is a simple belief: people are already creating culture. We want to help make that visible, support it, and create more opportunities for it to grow.
